A Season For Every Time
Apologies to the Byrds, but there is a season for every time and a time for every purpose in the season. Shared ice practice, full ice practice, off-ice training, non-league games and a league schedule, all neatly wrapped up in spreadsheets and calendars. I attended my first New Jersey Youth Hockey League scheduling meeting yesterday, sorting out the weekends for the next seven months for about half of our youth Devils teams. It was the kind of morning that makes me proud to be associated with youth sports: delegates from every club, in a hotel in central New Jersey on a Saturday morning before 8:00 AM, ready to help everybody but themselves.
Hockey starts in just 8 days. Our little Devils will warm up the ice for the big Devils, who start camp only a week or so later. A new season with its own time.
